What inspired your latest collection?
While some might assume MeanGirlZ was inspired by the iconic Mean Girls movie (which I did rewatch as a teen), the truth is more personal. So, I would say, I wanted to make something I can relate to myself, basically a gathering image of style, early internet, tumblr rawness I love. My first prototypes actually featured Ghost Ditto, but I pivoted when I realized how saturated the NFT space was with Pokémon-inspired projects + we already have legendary Drifella. Around that time, I was binge-listening podcasts like Deep Dive while working in the Photoshop and the name clicked during an episode titled “The Real Mean Girls”. To summary, the internet is the biggest inspiration^^
When did you get into the NFT sphere? (join crypto/notice NFTs)
If we get to the very beginning, I technically “joined” crypto through one of my previous jobs, where I got paid in USDT, but I wasn’t doing any trading back then.
In early 2024, my friend Dido (who most of you know as the creator of Solfus) introduced me to NFTs and told me to mint some. I think Mifella 2 was one of the first pieces I owned. I still remember this chaos trying to mint Angels Pack - my wallet lagging, and me getting all nervous haha. Seeing NFTs I was like damn “what art category does it fall onto?”. But as I got more free time from my IRL job, I started diving deeper into lore and enjoying it.
What NFT communities are you a fan of?
Oh, I love So MANY - Solfus, LSW, Wifeys, John, 1333, Blume and plenty of others, I appreciate how different they all are. :>
What's your current music playlist looking like?
I’m starting to enjoy music again as last year I was pretty overwhelmed with listening to anything. Lately, on my walks (aside from podcasts), I’ve mostly been playing cLOUDDEAD’s album. I am also “song - repeater”, so Salem, Dean Blunt, Snow Strippers, DG are on the loop as well.
Anything coming from you soon?
Right now my focus is on getting the collection into the hands of people who truly vibe with it, since MeanGirlZ are still minting. So for now, I’m just enjoying the process and rather see where this project takes me. :)
What does the collection mean to you/is there a deeper message to it?
Nostalgia. Internet culture that shaped some or most of us.
At the same time, there is no need to overanalyse it. For some, it might just be a girly collection & that’s completely ok!
But beyond all that, it means a lot to me to be the creator. That was pretty challenging and completely new to me, from the idea to launch. The best part is making new friends.
